Šibenik
The oldest self-emerging Croatian city on the Adriatic, it is located in the most protected natural harbor, on the central part of the Croatian Adriatic coast, in the picturesque, divided bay into which the Krka flows, one of the most beautiful karst rivers in Croatia. A rich gastronomic selection offers all traditional specialties of Dalmatia: crab and mussel stews, stewed vegetables, meat or seafood risottos, bean stews, superb fish or meat soups and the unavoidable chard as a universal side dish to almost all foods. Traditional deserts that can be found in the Šibenik kitchen include rožata (a sort of crème brulee), fritule (fritters) and kroštule (deep fried dough).
The city of Šibenik has another name – the City of Children, because for over 50 years in a row it has been the host of a children’s event in Croatia that has an international character, the International Children’s Festival, for which it is known worldwide.
